Even if there isn't a jumper, I found a process you can use to get past the
"buffer overrun" trouble with Solaris... (or use Linux)....

Looks a lot more daunting than it actually is. I'm now running Solaris 2.5.1
on my Axil 245, installed off of a Sony CDU-415 12X drive thanks to those
instructions.
