thanks everyone for the wiring lesson..  at least I did know higher AWG #
was smaller wire :-)

now:

DC primer anyone ?..

I'm doing this jes cuz DC netras are _sooo_ cheap on ebay. ("frosted
batwings 5 for a dollar")

But really I have no clue. If a little knowledge is dangerous.. what about none?

got this nice looking (new) 48v DC rectifier on ebay too*..   I'm hoping
once it gets here, it will be obvious.  and what I need

but feel free if anyone can give me a short primer..

hell. i dont even have the terminology straight
rectifier = AC in DC out ?
inverter = DC in AC out? ?

((in a DEC cabinet I picked up, it has an DC in / AC out "whatever". I
cannot imagine how much DC power it takes to be turned into enough AC power
for a rack full of equipment! Or does this thinking just reflect my
unappreciation for the 'power'of DC.
