Softimage 3D, which is a very kick butt 3D modelling and animation
program, has had a new series of price cuts.

It is now $1500 for the std version, and $2500 for the extreme
version.  B&H Photo still lists the old suggest retail prices, but
they charge $1,195.00 and $2,195.00 respectively.

And the Irix requirements are pretty mild:
Silicon Graphics workstations with MIPS R4000 processor or higher. 
IRIX 6.2 or later with SGI Patches. 
IRIX 6.5.14 or later highly recommended 
128 MB RAM (minimum), 256 MB RAM recommended 
2 GB hard disk 
3-button mouse 
Access to a CD-ROM drive to run the Setup program and to access the
online documentation (if it is not installed on your hard drive) 

Things are starting to be a bid affordably now, aren't they?
