Been done and on the news - that's why people don't do it as often now. ;-)

It's also the way that people get turbo-diesel Pinzgauers into the
country. If you're found doing it you'll get fined, imprisoned, and
have to watch your nice new shiney vehicle get crushed by a large compactor.
