I don't know about FreeBSD (I never looked at there Alpha port) but
NetBSD has MULTIPROCESSOR on Alphas and VAXen since 1.5 years. It is in
the latest release, 1.6. You have to compile your own kernel with
"options MULTIPROCESSOR" enabled to get it working. (Maybe there is a
precompiled GENERIC.MP, but a self baked kernel is always a Good Thing.)
