[rescue] SGI update help

OK, a new IRIX user here: I have just gotten an old Indy. Managed to do 
a fresh full install of IRIX 6.5.7f on it too.

I have also downloaded the 3 of the 4 6.5.17 maintenance .tar.gz CDs 
from SGI (I have access only for disk 1, 3, and 4... no contract). 
Found out after expanding the tgz, it's not really a CD image of any 
kind but files and folders.

So, I expanded them all in a directory in my home directory, 
/usr/people/oeyvind/dist

Try updating it via

1. su -
2. inst
	open up /usr/people/oeyvind/dist
3. keep *
4. install upgrade
5. conflicts

At this stage, I'm really stuck with 96 conflicts, I seem to able to 
solve the 1st one but no luck on the rest of them:

Overlay product compiler_eoe.sw.lib (1278117110) cannot be installed
because of missing prerequisites: base product compiler_eoe.sw.lib
(1274567610)
   1a. Do not install compiler_eoe.sw.lib (1278117110)
   1b. Also install base product compiler_eoe.sw.lib (1274567610) from an
       additional distribution -- insert another CD or specify another
       software distribution

x_dev.sw.dev cannot be installed because of missing prerequisites:
   2a. Do not install x_dev.sw.dev (1278316532)
   2b. Also install eoe.sw.base (1288304520 - 1288328599) from an 
additional
       distribution -- insert another CD or specify another software
       distribution.
   2c. Also install eoe.sw.base (1278316532 - 1278316599) from an 
additional
       distribution -- insert another CD or specify another software
       distribution.

Conflicts 2-96 seem to have something to do with eoe.sw.base! I tried 
loading all of the 6.5.7f disks that I have but to no luck at all.

Am I doing something wrong here? Tried: inst, keep *, install 
maintenance as well, but that also with MORE conflicts.

If needed I can redo the whole install, what will be a proper way to 
get up to date?
