This is how Intel does business. If they invent a proprietary
interface, they can make money licensing it, or refuse to license it to
competitors in order to nobble them, and brandish their legal department
at companies that clone it, reverse-engineer it or develop a compatible
interface white-room. If they used *STANDARDS*, they couldn't do that.
You have to remember that Intel thinks with its legal department.
