Dave, that seems a little harsh - in my view, Libraries have hard to
measure results. (How do you know in a *measurable* way that it is an
effective use of Tax $$?)
They are hard-pressed to demonstrate value or effectiveness, so all
their funding is considered by the givers (I assume) to be a gift,
revokable at the slightest conflict. This is why you will never see
controversial topics "celebrated" at public libraries, like "Right To
Choose Month" - those who oppose the ideas of the topic would fight to
reduce funding for activities *they* don't like/agree with.
Now, my view and your can be made to fit together, but I think mine is
a little less sinister/organised, but that is also my view of
government (this doesn't *excuse* bad behaviour, it does help *explain*
it though...)
