I've lived in north west Wisconsin since April '91.  The weather isn't 
that bad.  We're about 5 miles from Lake Superior and in the winter, we 
may, depending on the wind and whether or not the lake is frozen over, 
get "lake effect snow", but we've never gotten hammered the way Buffalo 
has been the last few years.  And in the summer, the lake mostly 
prevents tornados.  Right now, at 8am, it's 70 degrees F.
