   Yes.  FDDI's raw rate is 125Mbps, if memory serves.

   It'd be a very nonstandard, likely incompatibly-implemented kludge.  
Gigabit Ethernet supports larger frames ("Jumbo" frames) but it isn't 
widely implemented.
