My friend's son (now six), has had a computer for the last 3 years.
FIrst it was a 300 MHz PII running Win 9X (Book PC), now it is a 1.6
GHz P4 running WinXP Home (Dell).

He'd love to set him up with a Sun box, but the educational software
requires either x86 or, interestingly, Java (see www.nickjr.com, esp.
Dexter's Laboratory Labrynth game)...

He originally got his son the computer because his son used one at
daycare...
