NASA even have an special security officer in case the shuttle
would diverge across Florida making a salto at launch time.
His/Her hands is literally on a RED button connected to a bit
of explosive onboard the shuttle in case some bit/fuel or whatever could
be expected to hit
some suburb in Jacksonville or New Orleans.
The crash of a shuttle with all that expolisives (tons of Hydrogen and
Oxygen) in
Miami could shut down NASA forever.
The explosions in World Trade Center would look small..
