[rescue] FDDI on Sun and Solaris 8

way offtopic ... anyway

anyone have a sun FDDI das 4.0 adapter running on Solaris 8?

i can see it from the prom via the show-devs but a boot -rv doesnt find it
...
i have 2 of these both labeled 370-2716

both the Red lights are on on the back connected to a cisco ws-c1100 , if i
try to boot from the FDDI card the link light comes on on both the
concentrator and the FDDI cards... but Solaris 8 refuses to find it ..

any clues?
do i have to install the SUNfddi software?
according to the docs.sun.com and a search for SUNfddi says solaris 8
supports these critters but following the info , i get nowhere ...

any help is appreciated.
