There IS a way to do this, I did it on my VaxStation VLC, but I forget 
exactly how at the moment. What you could do is write down (on 
archiveal quality paper) the proceedure for starting it, start it, and 
then 15 years from now when you reboot the machine you'll have the 
paper to remind you how to reload tcp/ip :)
