I'm working on a similar project, but I'm reconsidering using a sun (Axil
ss2 clone, really) as the gateway. Everyone I've talked to about it (both
of them!) and all the usenet posts I've googled say that the sun FDDI boards
are s_l_o_w. Even if I'm just routing a cable modem onto the backbone,
2-3Mb/s isn't going to cut it.

There's a DAS board at
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3402452801 at $10 with no
bids and a little over a day left to go. I'm still debating wether or not I
want to try it. It'd be an easier choice if NetBSD supported the card!
