You can--just like you can run any SGI headless.  Tell the PROM to use
the first serial port instead of the gfx head as the console and/or tell
it to ignore carrier on the keyboard line.  Doing the latter makes the
machine boot with a gfx, but keeps the PROM from halting if there's no
keyboard present, giving you the best of both worlds--should you ever
want to toss a keyboard and monitor on the system without downtime.
