Slightly OT, but definitely in the range of experience of this 
group--better than any other group I know of.

At work, we may have the opportunity/request to buy some hardware to 
emulate another location's setup. It includes an Oracle 9i application 
server, an oracle 8i database and a firewall. *UN*fortunately, the fools 
run the first two on Intel-architecture boxes. (One of the guys at work 
said we could buy some servers. I said they're not servers, they're 
Intel boxes. Got me a grimace, but an understanding one; I have made 
*some* progress.)

So, the firewall will be Gauntlet on an Ultra (2 maybe?) and the 
database and app servers will be (yuk) Intel-style.

We're supposed to buy Dell stuff. I think Compaq is better if one is 
*forced* to buy non-server servers.

Opinions? No religious fervor, just statements of reliablility, options, 
warrantees, etc..
