[rescue] Ultra 1 NVRAM

There is an Ultra 1 I am thinking of buying, but the firmware password 
is unknown.
I have found the NVRAM at memoryx.com for $39 plus shipping. Now my 
question is:
is this just a direct replacement (I.E. remove old one, plug in new 
one), or does this involve some
kind of reprogramming or ? I have read the related FAQ, but I didn't 
quite get an answer from it.
Any help would be appreciated.
