I remembering reading about hurd like 6 years ago when I first starting
checking out linux.  It seemed cool.

It's not very diplomatic to say it, but hurd is the biggest case of
vaporware that ever mesmerized the opensource community.  This by people
who comment on slashdot non-stop and chide every other organization that
is working on an offering that takes too long in their minds.
