   Being a little groggy at the moment, I can't offer any specific 
suggestions as to why it's not working, but I can tell you with 100% 
certainty that CG6 framebuffers work just fine in SS1/1+/2 machines, as 
I've used a LOT of them in that configuration.

   Oh, wait a sec...did you do "setenv input-device keyboard" and 
"setenv output-device screen" at the OBP prompt?  I'll bet it's still 
squirting bits out of the serial port.
