For optimum interleaving (and thereby performance), you should
have equal ram on all mainboards.  However, for the purposes
of functionality, I do not think that it matters other than
the "bank" requirements for a given mainboard.

The same is true of later enterprise class machines as well.

IIRC, 1000E's take 30-pin RAM, correct?  I may have a large
quantity around here that came out of a Solbourne, if you are
interested.  Shipping plus a couple of bucks for my trouble
(yeah, lotta stuff piled up around here...the 30-pins were
re-purposed at one time for Mac IIci's ;-).
