   It's a FDDI interface.  FDDI is a newer, better, more robust, faster 
networking technology than Ethernet.  It runs at 100Mbps, and you can 
get 98Mbps out of it without playing switching tricks...unlike Ethernet.

   FDDI is good, but it's not popular in business magazines so it's 
viewed as "obsolete" (despite the fact that it's a newer technology 
than Ethernet!).  You should learn about it.
