[rescue] looking for framebuffer

Hello,
I just put my ultra5 to use (as opposed to having it as a plaything),
which means I wiped Solaris and installed an OS that I know better. I
have some headaches configuring Xfree86 on it however. Solaris required
zero configuration, but under Xfree86 the screen keeps flashing and
outputting snow etc. Now I got to know this afternoon that the ati
mach64 based card in the ultra5 isn't a real fixed frequency
framebuffer... I don't think I want to go to hell again like last time I
tried to use a fixed frequency monitor on a PC. So my question to
rescue@: does anyone have a "real" fixed-frequency framebuffer to spare?
One that fits in a pci slot since the ultra5 is pci based... preferably
16 or 24 bit card if possible.
It doesn't matter wether it has a hd15 or 13w3 output, I have an adaptor.
Thank you very much,

Frank
