I think free standing AC is very expensive, because it is not a common item (not that it is any more complex)...

$WORK-1 had one for when the building AC crapped out and the server room was in peril...

Seemed to work OK, but I wouldn't want tospend any significant time next to one... Imagine sitting next to your central AC compressor outside the house for an extended period. But that may have been because the unit was Heavy Duty (not for domestic use)...
