Check for fans with tumbled/burned bearings, they are usually just junky
sleeve bearings and they die quite noisily. Some disk drives do the same,
so see if your drive array is starting to get a flaky disk in there somewhere.
Tracking down the exact culprit is simple enough. You can usually isolate
it by ear if you open the boxes up and move your noggin around in there.
Ears are pretty directional if you concentrate a bit. One of the
automotive parts and tool stores in your neck o' the woods will also sell
you (pretty cheaply for the base model, high dollar for an amplified one) a
stethoscope dingus with a long, thin, solid probe instead of the usual
freezing cold disk that your witch doctor uses. Poke that around in the
boxen and see if you can hear where the trouble is.
