Hmmm... I've heard that shops end up closing for lack of personnel, or
moving to PC/UNIX setups.
Mainframe shops are paranoid about hiring too, some of which is
justified, some of which is not.
Hard to get in the door now.
By contrast, in 1986-1989 when I was in college doing data processing, I
got mainframe job offers while taking classes.
Oh how times change...
