I remember ascii uploading rz source to shell accounts
(open vi, type i and start upload).
Procomm plus let you specify the character send rate
(not to be confused with baud).  You had to set it pretty
low to reduce the chances of errors.

It seems that many shells had kermit, which made it
much easier to upload sz/rz.
