I have an HRT discharge tool from Apple.  It's a black handle with a  
long needle and on the end of the handle is a red cable with an  
alligator clip.

Apple also markets an HV Probe, but that's used to reduce the voltage  
to something readable by a multimeter (has a resistor) so you can test  
the unit while it's on and the anode cap is connected.

I think you have the HV probe confused with the discharge tool... or  
perhaps they had a different tool set back that far ago.
