It's probably a bit late, but ...
You would probably pay more from a reseller, and it doesn't look to be a
*bad* price so it really depends on how much you want an Octane. It's a
shame you can't get the IRIX hinv output because you'd be able to tell
if it had the right parts for serious upgrades (the PROM hinv doesn't go
into enough detail).
And on an almost related note ... if you've got an Octane that'll take
big DIMMs, remember it's the Octane2 documentation you want to read.
Octane2's don't like holes in their memory maps; unfortunately it took
me a while to realise this (although I was expecting problems
considering the hassle getting the memory delivered).
