LEDs are INSANE. There are headlights based on them now (Ford has a
prototype vehicle that has no "bulbs" AFAIK).
It is amazing. I was getting quotes from China on RGB ones tho, they still
aren't THAT cheap. Less than $1 tho each for 4 legged ones. The idea was
to build 4 rows of 64 that are tied to a computer on a huge thing that
spins real fast so there is full color graphics... Someone else already
did it though, and after reviewing his he used 2800+ LEDs in 4 bars of
"16" squares... which is quite a bit of money. I'm assuming he used 8
colors instead of RGB LEDs.
The cost to build the LED matrix signs in full color is pretty rough too.
I think a 8 x 8 module of RGB ones is about $90 each right now. Yikes.
