FWIW, I'm using an old (2002 vintage) 7720U with a new dual-layer
Pioneer DVD writer, and it works a treat on both Linux and MacOS 9
and X. I've not given it a spin on the Ultra 30 yet.
When I find my bits box, I'm going to try it on a CFIDE adaptor, a
Zip and LS120 drive just to see if they work, with the full
expectation that they will. A solid-state SCSI disk would be cute.
