It wasn't always that way.  Were you there for the big SGI rush of
'99-'00 in Los Angeles?  There was a huge migration among a lot of the
fx studios then from SGI to Winders, I got a TON of stuff for free
then, either from an employee letting me know what was going, or
dumpster diving.
