There are particular 400 MHz CPUs that can be used, the part number escapes me at the moment, but that is the only model that works (IIRC).

The same CPU also works in E250s, but they are essentially the same machine (with some exceptions not meaningful to the CPU question at hand).

For the offical word from Sun on supporting 400 MHz CPUs in an Ultra 2 system.
