[rescue] Exabyte drive/tape question

Anyone ever use the XL tapes (7G capacity) in 8500/8500C tape drives ?

I know exabyte says not to do this.... but was wondering if this 
actually works ok ?

Especially for home use ... I'm not even overly concerned if it wears 
drives out at
a rate twice that of normal... as I have a few 8500 mechs and it would 
see light duty.

Anyone got any XL tapes they don't want/need ??? (I only have 1 or 2 
currently)
