Hi,
So last weekend was my last trip to the MIT Swapfest for the forseeable
future, and while I didn't grab the small rackmount PC server I was
looking for, I did score a VAXstation 3100. I haven't had much time to
look into it much, but I did pull the cover off and it does have disks
at least. My issue is, I have no mmj cable/adapter to get a serial
console up on it. Some searching finds mainly MMJ-DB9 adapters, and a
few (somewhat pricy) MMJ patch cables. I also found some who say that
you can take a normal phone cable with rj11 ends and file off the clip
to get it to fit into the jack. What have peoples' experiences been
with this. Should I do the telephone cable trick, or shell out the $$
for a real mmj cable? Does anyone have MMJ patch cables or MMJ-DB9
adapters they wouldn't mind parting with?
The machine does power up, and the LEDs do a lot of stuff, but I really
can't start messing with the system until I get a serial console...Any
help apreciated.
