You can guess that, but you could be wrong.  Many LCDs in the past few 
years have been compatible.  Widescreen monitors other than 1920x1200 
may require some tweaking to get the resolution you want though.  See 
the nekochan forums for details about monitors known to work and how to 
get the proper resolutions and timings.
