Hi MJ,
I paid R5,000 for it. For those outside the RSA, that's about $685.
For a machine of 1.6GHz that's not been sold by the vendor for
several years now, I think that's a fair price.
I agree that people on eBay are demanding silly money for these.
But I doubt they're getting it. There's another one [1] I had my eye on
that's identical specs. The buy-it-now price is $2,300. I offered $750,
and the seller immediately responded with a price of $1,200, which is
pretty much half. So I really doubt that the $9,000+ prices are being
paid by anyone. I strongly suspect that these auctions are expiring,
and being re-started, indicating that the sellers aren't getting their
prices.
Now, anyone got any RAM or CPUs I can use to upgrade this puppy?
