I was hoping for better from the new pkgNG system. Unfortunately it was 
delayed when there was a compromise of the ports system in November 2012 
<http://www.freebsd.org/news/2012-compromise.html>. There has been slow 
progress since, and maybe by the end of this month we'll have something.
