comp.sources archives are still around.

sourceforge (GACK!) is still around.

codeplex is still around.

Anyone can clone the repository as a backup.

Distributed version control eliminates the idea of the "central
server" and creates massive redundancy across the globe (if anyone
uses your project in real life).
