I'd be careful. 3hp is only 2238W, or about 18A @ 120V or 10A @ 208V
You can do that in a datacenter pretty easily already.

They probably made is 3-phase power because they needed the amps..

More than something like a dual 208V x 30A power system could deliver.
(ie. 12480W).
