I've had good luck with the old Dell T3500 workstations from ebay 
seller digitalmind2000--$230 or so for 24GB (ECC) with a windows 7 
COA sticker. Kinda wish I'd gone with a dual socket T5500 or T7500, 
but the T3500 seemed to be better bang for the buck.
