Also, you'll fool yourself into thinking the wrong slot is zero they don't go in order... check page 36 of the service manual. Slot 0 is the one furthest from the sbus/mbus slots.

Also make sure you have extra cooling SM71s are much hotter than the stock cards, I don't have any personally but they are some of the hottest modules as far as I know you don't want those modules to die from overheating SM71s are semi rare much rare than SM81s ironically. I have SM81s in mine but there is an extra fan in there and few other cards.

I think a lot of people go for the SM71s as a max upgrade so they disappear quickly since people don't realize you can run SM81s as they aren't officially compatible. SM71s and SM81s were only sold in Sparcservers I think since those have hefty cooling.
