As earlier folks observed, it's a shame the old SunFreeware stuff is
behind a paywall these days.

However, the GNU folks provide some possibly helpful links:

which pointed to this, among others:

I've never used "TGCware" but it appears to be a collection of precompiled
opensrc stuff (including gcc) compiled for Solaris in the pkg format.  So
in theory, I'd imagine you unpack and install it directly.

Some IRIX packages there as well, jfyi.

In any case, maybe this is enough to bootstrap from src or pkgsrc etc.,
if you want to stay with Solaris.
