I really think that one of them is the perception that RAM and CPU are
cheap, and therefore bloat isn't important any more.  I have seen *CLI*
applications that pull in all of the GTK+ core libraries in order to get
*one string handling function*.  Christ on a crutch, people, lazy much?
 The Gnome ecosystem is particularly bad about this.
