[rescue] semi-OT: HP EIO card configs?

   I'm sure almost everyone here has had some experience with these. 
Can anyone definitively tell me if the configuration information 
(network, etc) of an EIO card, the little network interface etc cards 
for HP laser printers, is stored within the card or within the printer? 
I.E., can I configure a card in one printer, move it to another, and 
have that configuration follow the card?

   My assumption is yes, because each EIO card has its own menu that 
comes up in the config tree, but I need to know for sure.
