This discussion got me curious about the history of ROSS, and in reading up
on it, I came across this article that explains how Pixar actually used a
render farm of SPARCstation 20 systems upgraded with ROSS hyperSPARCs to
finish Toy Story on schedule, which I did not know until now (despite being
a fan of Pixar since 1990, when I first saw their shorts playing on a
LaserDisc at a MacWorld Expo Boston booth):

Fascinating bit of history!
