Yes.

Printing on heat-sensitive or low-flexibility stock.

Printing colour comparatively cheaply.

Light-duty use where physical size and weight need to be low.

And, of course, many applications where they don't compete with laser
printers, such as other than routine end-user printing on plain paper,
but from context I'm assuming that's what you're talking about.
