Thank you, guys. I solved the problem in the meantime: incorrect pins on empty slots of VME backplane.

    When you netboot, can you get NFS up? Could you build a drive on the
    sparc, populate it over NFS and then try booting the drive?

    Other than that, when I had to deal with SCSI in that era it was often
    wave a dead chicken over it and just keep changing things till it
    worked and then not touching it again.
