Huh? I just updated a SS20 with a MT48T08-100PC1 from Mouser, works fine.
I had done the same for other SS20s some years ago, and they also work fine.
It might be system-dependent, though.

I wasn't aware of those, just googled them, they look nice!

Indeed if they are no longer made, it would be nice to have access to
the design files; they probably would be reasonably priced even in low
volume at most cheap PCB manufacturers.
