You're in luck, I just went through this exercise!
Carefully read through the following two links, you'll need to follow these
steps to netboot Solaris into single user mode and run the firmware update
utility. If you already have Solaris 10 installed maybe you can use that,
but I didn't have an OS installed at the time:
http://iwatts.blogspot.com/2016/10/netboot-solaris-10-via-ubuntu-14-using.html
http://1shiftg.blogspot.com/2012/08/solaris-10-enterprise-t2000-xtsync.html
In general (if the links stop working), you'll want to follow standard
procedure to get the system booted into Solaris 10 single user mode (either
with a CD if the system has a CD drive, or netboot, or possibly with an HDD
that already has a Solaris 10 install, booting with the parameters -avs),
then put the firmware zip file (139435-10.zip) on the system using a
similar method, run the sysfwdownload utility pointing it at the firmware
binary file which is also included in the zip file, then shutdown, return
to the SC prompt, run setkeyswitch -y normal, flashupdate -s
127.0.0.1, resetsc, then you should be good to go!
I did a quick search and found the firmware hosted here:
https://mirror.wide-net.org/pub/sun/
I'm not sure if this is where I got my copy but I did a sha1sum of it and
it matches the one I have.
You will of course be picking up the Oracle branding in this version of the
firmware, if that matters to you :)
Unfortunately I haven't found a way to control the fan speeds of the T1000
yet. I'm not sure it's possible without wiring some resistors in-line with
the fans. The SC reports mine running at 8000 rpm and the low threshold is
around 2000 rpm, so there should be room to dampen them. If you figure it
out, please reply back and let us know!
